I used the mobilespike in the field last night for the first time. The suspect was traveling at 70 MPH. It took me about 10 seconds to get a good line-up because the suspect was speeding up and slowing down when I got next to him, but I got a good deployment and he came to a stop after another 1/2 mile. Both occupants were immediately taken into custody. The vehicle was stolen and the driver was wanted for escape in the second degree. This is the best system I've seen for stopping a chase!

We placed the MobileSpike in service on February 10th, 2010. On February 18th, 2010, I was on patrol and heard via the radio that a vehicle was failing to yield for another Investigator. I was able to get ahead of the vehicle and my first in service deployment was from the opposite direction. The MobileSpike made contact with the two driverside tires and rendered the vehicle disable in approximately 1 minute. The driver bailed out of the vehicle, myself and the other Investigator initiated a foot pursuit. I made contact with the driver, deployed my M26 Taser and placed him in custody. The driver was a suspect in an attempted murder investigation; we recovered a scale and over 200 grams of cannabis. This would not have been possible without the use of the MobileSpike.

On April 7th, 2010 I was on patrol and noticed a vehicle with windows that appeared to be tinted darker than allowed by Florida State Statue. When I got behind the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to yield. The vehicle entered the Interstate, still failing to stop, so I got into position and deployed the MobileSpike. I made contact with passenger rear tire and approximately one minute later, I noticed the tire going flat. The vehicle soon became disabled and the driver and passenger bailed out of the vehicle. They both fled on foot into a neighborhood. A K9 was deployed and located one subject hiding in a shed behind a residence. The MobileSpike quickly disabled the vehicle and ended what could have turned into a very dangerous situation, endangering other citizens on the road.

On April 14th, 2010 I was on patrol and noticed a vehicle failing to yield for another Investigator. I noticed the vehicle kept driving and it was traveling toward my direction. When the vehicle came to an intersection, I activated my emergency lights and blocked it from the front with my patrol vehicle. The driver looked at me and attempted go around my patrol vehicle on my drivers side. I quickly noticed the drivers actions, so I deployed the MobileSpike, making contact with the drivers rear tire. The vehicle traveled approximately 100 yards, the driver stopped and I placed him into custody. When the driver was placed into custody, I could see and hear the tire still deflating from the MobileSpike. The driver stated that he stopped his vehicle because he noticed that I used (that spike thing) the MobileSpike.
